Your club. Your rails. Your code.

Haptera builds membership and club programs that run on the payment account you already own. One-time build, open source, no platform skimming every member — forever.

Why Haptera

Haptera are the finger-like structures a kelp uses to grip bedrock. They look like roots but aren't: they contain no vascular tissue, and the kelp takes no nutrition from the rock it holds. It anchors without extracting.

That's the design constraint. Haptera runs on your accounts — your Square, your Stripe, your database, your domain. It holds your club, your waitlist, your comms. It takes nothing from the transactions passing through, because it never touches them. Apache-2.0. Your code, your data, your customers.

The platform tax

A subscription platform takes a cut of every member. Every month. Forever.

Platforms like Table22 charge around 10% of top-line plus processing. Your members sign up on the platform's domain, live on its list, and route support through it. Leave, and the club can't come with you cleanly.

Haptera is the other model: the club runs on your Square or Stripe, signup lives on your site, and the code sits in a repo with your name on it.

Club revenue / yr$43,200
Platform fee (~10%)– $4,320
On Haptera$0

Illustrative: 60 members × $60/mo. Card processing (~2.9%) applies either way, since platforms charge 10% on top of it. Real figures come from your dashboard.

How it works

Everything lives in an account you own.

Haptera isn't a platform you log into. It's a standard web app wired to the services you already trust — nothing runs through us.

Billing

Your processor

Recurring charges run on your own Square or Stripe. Checkout happens on their hosted pages, so no card data ever touches the site and there's no PCI burden.

Signup

Your domain

Members join on your own site and manage their own pauses, cancellations, and card updates. No app link to a platform you don't control.

Ownership

Your code

The build lives in a GitHub repo in your account, licensed so anyone can maintain it. Hand it to any developer — no permission from us required.

Open source

The engine is public. So "you own it" isn't a promise — it's a license.

Haptera's core is released under Apache-2.0. Read it, fork it, deploy it yourself, or hire anyone to. The value we sell is the program design and the build — not lock-in.

Not a developer? That's what the build is for. The open license just means you're never trapped — the thing you paid for can be maintained by anyone, forever. See the repo →
